Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Racah Institute of Physics hosts about 15 postdoctoral research fellows every year. Each fellow is associated with a specific research group, and is working on projects of his choice within the areas of activity of the hosting group.

Currently there are postdocs in astrophysics, cosmology and gravity, neural computations, string theory, hadronic physics, and condensed-matter physics.

Some of the fellowships are partly supported by competitive university funds (such as the Lady Davis fellowships) and all the fellows are partly or fully funded by individual research grants. The application procedure is always through an institute member or a group, who is the intended supporting host.

The application deadline is typically in December every year, for fellowships that start the following fall. The application material should include curriculum vita, list of publications, summary of research, and three letters of recommendation to be sent directly to the intended host. E-mail or fax submission is possible.

The fellowships are typically for two years (a formal extension is required for the second year), and in some cases extendible to three. Shorter terms may also be considered. The net income ranges from $1500 to $3000 per month and is free of tax. One return airfare is provided, as well as research costs including computing and professional travel.

More details can be found in the following entries by group, and can be provided by direct contact with the relevant intended hosts.
